Responsibilities:
Position Overview
This is a role for a results-driven individual with a 'client-first' mindset, who will take responsibility for targeting, qualifying, and securing business and revenue growth opportunities for multiple technologies across our Energy-as-a-Service business. You will play a key role in identifying new business in the corporate energy transition sector, particularly BESS, Solar PV and EV charging infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record in renewable energy sales or a background in project development who is looking to leverage their industry expertise and relationships to drive business growth. If you have a demonstrated ability to build trust-based relationships with clients, presenting tailored, value-driven solutions that align with customer needs, we'd love to hear from you.
Senior/Manager, Business Development Responsibilities
• Originate and close new distribution-connected projects across storage, fuel cell, solar, EV charging, and microgrid projects
• Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with go-to-market plans and revenue targets
• Identify and engage prospects through targeted outreach and stakeholder mapping
• Build strong client relationships, understand needs, and deliver tailored solutions
• Lead proposal development, presentations, and client communications aligning with company brand
• Negotiate and finalize commercial agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes
• Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate opportunities and structure compelling solutions
• Maintain accurate pipeline tracking in CRM systems
• Lead internal BD meetings with clear objectives and follow-through
• Champion projects through the full sales and development lifecycle
Qualifications:
• Proven experience (minimum of 3+ years) originating and closing complex energy deals with large C&I customers and/or utilities
• Experienced in energy industry with understanding of electricity markets, distributed generation, and energy infrastructure (ideally BESS) preferred
• Demonstrated ability to manage full sales cycles and multiple concurrent deals
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to craft clear, compelling narratives
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with financial models
• Ability to work cross-functionally and engage stakeholders from technical teams to the C-suite
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to operate with autonomy
• Proficiency in MS Office and CRM tools
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Willingness to travel up to 30%
Location:
Willingness to work flexibly, Tues/Weds in our Washington, DC HQ, Mon/Thurs/Fri from home is preferred, or remote. Please note that our team operates on Eastern Time hours.
