Job description

ROLE
WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Scheduler. The Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules across WHC Energy Services' various sectors, including power, facilities, and pipeline construction. This role ensures accurate planning, forecasting, and resource alignment to support safe, efficient, and on-time execution of construction projects. The Scheduler partners closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Construction Managers to drive schedule performance and mitigate risks across all sector operations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Scheduling & Planning
    • Develop, manage, and maintain project Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules using Primavera P6 in alignment with the scope of work, contract requirements, and company standards.
    • Integrate labor, equipment, material, engineering, and environmental constraints specific to project development and construction.
    • Establish baseline schedules, conducting detailed reviews of durations, logic, resource assignments, and resource histograms and track progress throughout project execution.
  • Coordination & Communication
    • Collaborate with project teams to gather accurate schedule inputs.
    • Lead weekly schedule review meetings with project leadership and field teams.
    • Work closely with Project Controls Manager to align schedule updates with production goals, task durations, and earned value metrics.
    • Communicate schedule changes, delays, constraints, and risks to internal stakeholders and client representatives.
  • Analysis & Reporting
    • Perform critical path analysis, schedule risk assessments, and “what-if” scenarios.
    • Provide clear reporting on milestone performance, energization timelines, commissioning phases, and integration activities.
    • Support recovery planning and mitigation strategies for schedule impacts on transmission and solar projects.
  • Compliance & Documentation
    • Ensure schedules comply with contract requirements, utility standards, facility project specifications, and WHC procedures.
    • Support project teams in managing scope changes, delay claims, and compensation events by ensuring proper change management procedures are followed and documented.
    • Document all schedule assumptions, logic ties, sequence changes, and risks.
    • Align scheduling data with project controls functions, including cost tracking and progress measurement.

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or related field preferred.
Experience
  • 3+ years of scheduling experience in facilities or heavy industrial construction.
  • Experience supporting facility or utility owner projects is strongly preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing for solar, battery, substation, and transmission line projects.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, one-lines, transmission plans, and solar layout designs.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
  • Clear and confident communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple schedules across fast-paced, large-scale facilities projects.
  • Collaborative and proactive mindset, especially in field-driven environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is based at our Lafayette, LA or The Woodlands, TX office. Travel to project sites may be required.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Scheduler reports to the Planning and Scheduling Manager.
