Spear Commercial & Industrial (Spear C&I) is seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician with solar experience to join our growing team based in Austin, TX. This role is ideal for a professional who thrives in the field, values high-quality workmanship, and is comfortable traveling to commercial project sites.

Position Overview

The Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems on commercial and industrial job sites, with a strong focus on commercial solar installations. This role also supports quality control efforts to ensure all systems meet company standards, NEC code requirements, and project specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in commercial and industrial environments
  • Perform solar system installations, including wiring, panels, and associated components
  • Read and interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and system schematics
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC codes, safety standards, and project specifications
  • Conduct troubleshooting and resolve electrical and installation issues in the field
  • Perform site inspections to maintain quality, safety, and compliance standards
  • Document project progress through reports, photos, and field updates
  • Support commissioning, inspections, and final project approvals
  • Collaborate with project managers, crews, and other trades on-site

Qualifications

  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (required)
  • 2+ years of solar experience (commercial solar preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, NEC codes, and safety regulations
  • OSHA 30 Certification (preferred or required based on project)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and racking plans
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Comfortable using tablets or field reporting software
  • Valid driver’s license
