Air Barrier Installer - Mid-Atlantic Region

Position Type: Full Time / Manual Labor
Location: Chesapeake, Richmond, Charlottesville, Manassas, VA, Baltimore, MD (Serving the Mid-Atlantic Region)

The Air Barrier Installer plays a critical role in enhancing building energy efficiency and indoor air quality by expertly installing air barrier systems on residential, commercial, and government buildings. This position involves working closely with construction teams to ensure that air barriers are applied correctly to prevent air leakage, moisture intrusion, and thermal loss. We require professional-level experience and a positive, forward-thinking attitude.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Average Installer Salary: $94K
  • Incentives: $3,000 SIGN-ON BONUS, Production Pay and Per Diem for travel available.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must first and foremost be a cultural fit for our team.
  • Experience: Prior experience in air barrier installation or related construction trade.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting (at least 60 lbs.), climbing, and working at heights/elevated platforms.
  • Environmental: Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions.
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license, clean background, and reliable transportation to travel within the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Availability: Willingness to travel and availability for evenings/weekends on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Surface Prep & Install: Prepare surfaces and install air barrier materials such as membranes (sheet-applied), fluid-applied systems, tapes, sealants, and insulation.
  • Equipment Mastery: Operate material sprayers and common hand tools; properly maintain equipment and possess the technical knowledge to troubleshoot rig equipment.
  • Collaboration: Work with project managers, contractors, and other trades to coordinate schedules and ensure seamless integration of building envelope components.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections during and after installation to verify the integrity and continuity of the system; help document jobs with measurements and photos.
  • Safety: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols, OSHA standards, and using PPE appropriately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in air barrier installation or building envelope technology. (ABBA)
  • Familiarity with local building codes and energy efficiency standards.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred but not required
  • CPR/First Aid preferred but not required
