The Opportunity...


Reporting directly to the Outreach Manager, the Outreach Coordinator will coordinate GRID Alternative's effort to communicate our programs and services among a wide variety of potential clients and partners. The Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring outreach activities in the community.


As an Outreach Coordinator for GRID Alternatives, you will be passionate about environmental justice, sustainability, working with income-qualified communities, affordable housing, the environment, or just generally grounded in making the world a better place.


What you will be doing (essential responsibilities):


Outreach Engagement:


  • Serve as the main contact for clients during every phase of the multistep journey. This includes outreach, screening, home site visits, and informing families/individual potential clients about GRIDS's solar and renewable energy program details.
  • Guide clients through applications and contracts, assist with paperwork collection, and maintain relationships with former GRID clients with ongoing education
  • Provide homeowners, prospective families, and the community with insights on the benefits of solar and strategies to boost their savings. This includes how to read their bill, energy efficiency, and broadly improving community understanding and support for GRID Alternatives' work and mission.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor community outreach plan, including measurable outcomes and objectives, in collaboration with outreach team and manager as well as other departments to meet and exceed goals organizational goals


Community Engagement:

  • Develop and maintain professional and positive working relationships with community members, local business, affordable housing developers, local government agencies, community-based organizations, tribal liaison and other organizations to promote GRID Alternatives mission and services
  • Organizing and hosting community events, presentations, and workshops
  • Organize, attend, and present at non-profits, public and private spaces, speaking to media, neighborhood and community settings in order to connect with eligible families and providers who may benefit and or partner with GRID Alternatives.


Administrative Duties:

  • Process and coordinate with the local utilities for the interconnection process
  • Assist in the training of volunteers, staff SolarCorps Fellows when needed
  • Tracking, documenting, and reporting on community outreach and engagement activities
  • Providing regular updates to management on outreach activities and progress towards goals
  • Prepare and update outreach materials, including presentations and flyers
  • Plan for, order, and track purchase of marketing materials that support program goals

Requirements

Your area of knowledge and expertise:

  • Passion to support the mission and goals of GRID Alternatives. Experience living/working in economically disadvantaged communities and with diverse populations or at least the ability to relate to and respect diverse populations.
  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in program outreach, sales, community worker or similar.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience successfully planning and handling an outreach or sales portfolios that includes multiple projects and deliverables.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams), Salesforce and or Adept in learning new technologies and software
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Well-organized and able to self-manage challenging priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexible and collaborative; ability to work effectively with all levels of staff, supporters, and community members.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment at all times.
  • Comfortable working independently and a team player, willing to pitch in as needed, such as with training SolarCorps Fellows, other staff, interns, and volunteers
  • Flexibility in work schedule and available for weekend and evening work as needed
  • Regular driving is required, and the applicant MUST hold a valid driver's license
  • MUST be able to successfully register and maintain a Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) registration with the Contractors State License Board


It would be great if you also had:

  • Bilingual /Bi-literate in Spanish/English is strongly preferred; fluency in other languages is also preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of the basics of solar energy, energy efficiency or a background in renewable energy is helpful but optional.

Compensation:



The compensation range for this fulltime position is $22-$31 per hour. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity.

Where you will sit & the places you may go...



The ideal candidate will sit in Riverside, CA. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use. In this instance, applicants must hold a valid driver's license and have a good driving record.
