Requirements
SolAmerica is seeking a highly skilled Project Manager to oversee the complete lifecycle-from planning through execution and completion-of our solar and energy storage portfolio. As a growing Independent Power Producer (IPP), we rely on this pivotal role to ensure the successful, profitable implementation of our projects.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of leadership, technical expertise, and rigorous project management skills. You will be responsible for directing projects for Distributed Generation (DG) ground-mount solar. By leading a cross-functional team to meet strict budget and timeline goals, the Project Manager will maximize both the environmental and financial returns of our portfolio.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage project preconstruction including EPC bids and supervision of engineering design
  • Responsible for the overall delivery of the project within budget, schedule, and quality requirements; while maintaining relationships with clients, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution
  • Manage project resources and allocate tasks to team members
  • Conduct regular project meetings to identify and address any issues or risks
  • Manage engineering and procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of equipment and materials
  • Review and take ownership of critical path project schedules for construction; along with aligning with company and financing requirements
  • Create detailed project budgets, managing cash flow, analyzing costs vs. benefits, and ensuring the project meets financial goals set forth by Stage Gate approval process
  • Produce project level reporting deliverables at required intervals as set forth by management.
  • Assist in the negotiation of EPC contract amounts and contract terms
  • Oversee the installation and commissioning of solar systems by turn-key EPC, ensuring adherence to safety, health and environmental standards
  • Communicate project status updates, milestones, and key deliverables to internal teams, management, and financing partners
  • Manage Utility interconnection processes after execution of Interconnection Agreement to align with project requirements
  • Coordinate with financing parties, including Independent or third-party engineering needs and deliverables

EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related STEM field. Advanced degree or professional certification in project management is preferred (may consider demonstratable experience in relevant industries);
  • Demonstrated experience achieving positive renewable energy project construction results;
  • Deep understanding of the solar industry;
  • Experience with solar electrical equipment engineering and/or electrical engineering;
  • Experience with solar racking design and engineering process (geotechnical studies, pile load testing, etc.);
  • Experience in the field is preferred;
  • Familiarity with utility interconnection processes and testing requirements;
  • Proficient with MS Project or other Critical Path Scheduling Tools;
  • PMP, PE, NABCEP, OSHA 10 (or 30) or other Certifications.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Proven experience in project management, preferably in the solar energy industry;
  • Strong understanding of solar photovoltaic systems and installation practices;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to read and comprehend plans, drawings, specifications, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents. Additional training in these skills will be provided;
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work in a team environment where the focus is on the goals and objectives that determine the success of the projects;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to exercise judgment to appropriately balance risks with business objectives;
  • Intellectual curiosity and a desire to constantly learn and improve;
  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple competing priorities;
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a close-knit team;
  • Knowledge of project management software and tools;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Understanding or regulatory requirements related to solar energy projects
