Job description

Position Overview:
This position will be based out of our Centennial, CO location.
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Solar Service Technician to join our growing Service team. This role is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing residential solar PV systems, battery backup systems, EV chargers, and related electrical equipment. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, safety-oriented, and experienced in field service and electrical troubleshooting.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot residential solar PV systems, battery storage systems, EV chargers, and associated electrical components.
  • Perform corrective maintenance, warranty repairs, inspections, and service upgrades.
  • Respond to service calls and customer concerns regarding system production, monitoring, equipment performance, or functionality.
  • Utilize monitoring platforms and diagnostic tools to identify and resolve system issues.
  • Accurately document troubleshooting steps, resolutions, photos, and service notes within internal software systems.
  • Perform inverter replacements, system diagnostics, communication troubleshooting, breaker replacements, module replacements, and commissioning support.
  • Support detach/reset and reroof-related solar service work as needed.
  • Coordinate with the Service and Operations teams to prioritize and complete service requests efficiently.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with NEC, local AHJ requirements, and company standards.
  • Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Deliver a high level of professionalism and customer service during all homeowner interactions.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new Service Technicians as needed.
  • Participate in regular safety meetings, technical trainings, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Meet or exceed service department KPIs including turnaround time, first-time resolution, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of solar installation, electrical, or solar service experience preferred
  • Experience troubleshooting residential solar PV systems strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of NEC codes and residential electrical systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Comfortable using mobile apps, monitoring platforms, and service software
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be comfortable working on roofs of varying pitches and heights
  • Ability to climb ladders, lift up to 60 pounds, and work in various weather conditions
  • Knowledge of battery storage systems, EV chargers, and monitoring platforms is a plus
  • NABCEP certification is a plus
  • Electrical Journeyman license or apprenticeship experience preferred
  • REQUIRED: Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and a minimum of 9 years of driving experience, in accordance with PB insurance parameters - no exceptions. Must be able to pass an MVR check and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Enphase, SolarEdge, Tesla, FranklinWH, or similar platforms
  • Experience with residential reroof detach/reset work
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience commissioning or troubleshooting battery backup systems

Pay for this position is $24-$38 per hour, depending on experience. Overtime opportunities may be available depending on seasonality and business needs.
This full-time role is eligible to participate in health (one plan is less than $35 per pay check!), dental, and vision insurance. Photon Brothers also offers a 401k with match, as well as company-sponsored life insurance and telehealth. Paid holidays and PTO are also offered with this position.
