Company OverviewSunrock Distributed Generation is a developer, long-term operator, and financier of solar assets deployed on the properties of businesses, municipalities, and nonprofits across the USA. Leveraging an unmatched network of trusted partners and installers, tech-enabled operational efficiency, and a proprietary underwriting method, we design solar and distributed generation solutions tailored to the needs of organizations previously unable to access the benefits of solar energy. Our approach enables businesses to maximize the benefits of solar and distributed energy solutions, regardless of project size. We offer Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with zero upfront investment, positioning us as the trusted platform for commercial solar DG projects.
Position Summary The Project Manager is responsible for owner-side oversight and delivery of assigned Commercial & Industrial (C&I) distributed generation projects, including rooftop solar, carport solar, and behind-the-meter Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
This role supports the Director / Area Manager of Projects and serves as the day-to-day owner’s representative for individual projects, ensuring EPC partners and vendors execute in accordance with contractual requirements, safety standards, schedule commitments, and customer operational constraints. This role differs from an EPC Project Manager in that it focuses on owner-side oversight, coordination, and risk tracking, rather than directing daily construction means and methods.
The position emphasizes coordination, execution discipline, and risk tracking rather than self-perform construction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the Owner’s Representative for assigned C&I solar and BESS projects from Notice to Proceed through PTO
  • Coordinate daily and weekly execution activities with EPCs, installers, and vendors
  • Serve as the primary construction-phase interface with host customers and site facility teams
  • Track and manage project schedules to achieve Substantial Completion, PTO, and revenue milestones
  • Identify and escalate risks related to site conditions, roofing, utilities, AHJs, and BESS fire/life-safety requirements
  • Support change management by reviewing change requests, schedule impacts, and cost exposure
  • Coordinate with Engineering and third-party reviewers on design clarifications and constructability
  • Monitor quality and safety performance at occupied and operating sites
  • Support inspections, commissioning activities, and closeout documentation
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting for internal stakeholders

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 4–8+ years of experience delivering C&I solar, distributed generation, or similar construction projects
  • Experience with rooftop and/or carport solar; familiarity with behind-the-meter BESS preferred
  • Working knowledge of EPC contracts, construction schedules, and permitting processes
  • Ability to manage contractors and customer stakeholders concurrently
  • Owner-side or EPC project management experience preferred

Core Competencies
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills
  • Customer-focused communication and problem-solving
  • Risk awareness and escalation mindset
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple active projects

Location
Candidate is ideally in the East Coast region of US with a preference for New York, Massachusetts, Maryland, or New Hampshire. This role is flexible to be remote for the right candidate, with up to 10% travel as necessary.
Compensation
$115-145k base + bonus + equity (commensurate with experience)

Flexible work from home options available.
