Job description

Company Description

Leading The Way (LTW) is a Christian media ministry committed to the proclamation of the whole counsel of God. Uniquely equipped to reach a global audience through its offices in the USA, Canada, Australia and England, we use today's technology to connect individuals with sound Biblical teaching - whether here at home or in closed countries and remote regions. Now celebrating over 35 years of ministry, Leading The Way's television, radio, and digital programs are broadcast in 28 languages to audiences across six continents. The ministry also operates an Arabic satellite television channel that broadcasts into the Middle East, North Africa, Europe, and Australia; distributes solar-powered Navigators containing the New Testament and Biblical teaching into remote regions; employs Field Teams for on-the-ground evangelism and discipleship; mobilizes Christians in prayer through the AWAKE America prayer campaign and city-wide rallies; and hosts international Evangelistic Celebrations in strategic cities across the globe. Dr. Youssef passionately proclaims uncompromising Truth and leads the way for people living in spiritual darkness to discover the light of Christ.

Job Description

The Media Administrator, TV Department plays a critical role in the daily operations of Leading The Way's television production department, ensuring editors have seamless access to the media assets they need, archival systems are maintained with precision, and the shared production environment remains stable and organized. LTW produces and broadcasts a national television program every week, reaching audiences across six continents in 28 languages. Sustaining that level of output requires someone with a deep commitment to process, an exceptional eye for detail, and a genuine appreciation for the discipline of media management. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise to work that matters, supporting a broadcast operation that rivals any major network in service of a global ministry mission.

Key responsibilities of the Media Administrator, TV Department include but are not limited to:

  • Work primarily within Avid Interplay, CatDV, and the server environment as the central platforms for daily media management
  • Preserve, catalog, and archive hundreds of terabytes of footage to LTO tapes (LTO8, Spectra robot); monitor and maintain space across all TV-related drives to ensure system stability and accommodate ongoing ingest needs
  • Ingest, allocate, restore, and deliver media assets from recordings, trips, and archived sources to editors in a timely manner, with prioritization based on production need
  • Sync and pass sequences and projects to the appropriate team members in support of active production workflows
  • Maintain a searchable index, logical folder structure, strict naming conventions, and metadata procedures for all content across LTO tapes, external hard drives, cloud storage, and the off-site Iron Mountain library
  • Troubleshoot content retrieval, archival, and system performance issues; serve as the keeper of the shared media environment so 10-12 editors can work without delay or disruption
  • Catalog, sequence, and administer media through CatDV; oversee external hard drive usage and manage project archives within Basecamp
  • Track, assess, and oversee all active projects; maintain up-to-date editor project lists and deliver weekly reports on every piece in motion
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot TV workflows in Telestream Vantage; actively develop new ways to automate current processes and research and evaluate emerging and value-added storage solutions including cloud storage and LTO tape
  • Consult with leadership on asset management, storage budgeting, and capacity decisions; administer and update media file delivery across all online ministry portals including YouTube, website, and phone app
  • Steward an expanding archival operation, including the active procurement and management of LTO tapes to secure assets, free active storage, and sustain the weekly production and national broadcast of LTW's television program
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
  • 5-15 years of background in media management, media administration, or a closely related role within a professional media environment; broadcast, television, or creative production agency background strongly preferred; nonprofit media background alone is not sufficient
  • Hands-on proficiency with Avid Interplay, Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premiere, Da Vinci Resolve, CatDV or similar asset management system, and Telestream Vantage or similar workflow automation tools
  • Demonstrated track record archiving large volumes of media to LTO tape (LTO8 preferred) within complex server and shared storage environments, including supporting a shared workspace with multiple simultaneous users; this role directly serves 10-12 editors working concurrently in a shared system
  • Proven aptitude to develop and enforce naming conventions, metadata standards, and folder structures across a team and throughout the full production workflow
  • Genuine enjoyment of and demonstrated capacity to thrive in a role built around repetitive, process-driven, detail-intensive tasks; this is the single most important personality requirement for success in this role
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to coordinate seamlessly across editors, production managers, and leadership; hands-on proficiency with project tracking and collaboration tools (Basecamp or similar)
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment driven by weekly broadcast production deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct background at a television station, broadcast or news network, or creative production agency (e.g., Brand Apart, PulseSppark, 22 Squared, or agencies producing work for major brands)
  • Familiarity with off-site storage management including Iron Mountain or similar archival facilities
  • Working knowledge of Spectra robot or similar automated tape library systems
  • Track record managing media delivery to digital ministry or broadcast portals (YouTube, websites, apps)
  • Comfort with cloud storage solutions and emerging storage technologies
  • Proven ability to consult leadership on asset management strategy and storage budgeting decisions
  • Demonstrated aptitude for workflow automation and process improvement within a media environment
  • Proficiency with Smugmug or similar photo and gallery management platforms
  • No specific degree required; proven competency and relevant hands-on experience are the primary criteria; a degree or certification in media production, digital media management, broadcasting, or a related field is a plus where accompanied by a verifiable track record

Desired Characteristics of Applicants

When LTW reviews applicants for an open position, we look for certain characteristics we believe are important to maximizing the ministry of LTW and fully utilizing the spiritual gifts and talents as individuals.

  • Christian.  We believe that to contribute to our mission it is essential that a person maintain a vibrant Christian faith.
  • Called.  Work at LTW is not just another job; it is the work of God and an employee should sense the call of God on his or her life work within the ministry.
  • Competent.  In addition to being a Christian and having a sense of calling, a person must be fully competent to perform all the duties of the position.
  • Committed.  Because of LTW's high standards and its belief in good stewardship, it is essential that all employees manifest a high level of commitment to their job responsibilities and the ministry as a whole.

Additional Information

Compensation at Leading The Way includes:

  • Salary
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Group term life insurance
  • Long-term disability insurance
  • After one year, eligibility to participate in 403(b) retirement plan-currently LTW contributes 9% of salary to plan and matches a portion of employee contributions
  • Vacation, holiday, personal, and sick pay

Leading The Way's employees come from a broad range of church backgrounds. Nevertheless, employees are expected to be a member in good standing of a church whose doctrinal convictions and statement of faith are not in conflict with LTW's. To make sure everyone understands our theological foundations, we require that all employees subscribe to LTW's Statement of Faith, avoid public statements conflicting with the Statement of Faith, and seek to conduct themselves in a manner consistent with the beliefs set forth in the Statement of Faith.

Leading The Way is both an equal-opportunity employer and a Christian, nonprofit, religious organization. We conduct hiring without regard to race, color, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, parental status, or disability of an otherwise-qualified individual. The status of LTW as an equal-opportunity employer does not prevent the organization from hiring staff based on their religious beliefs so that all staff share the same religious commitment, which is central to our stated religious purpose and day-to-day operations.

This job posting is being managed by Forrest Johnson Recruiting on behalf of Leading The Way.
