Job description

About the role:

Hobbs, New Mexico

We are looking for an experienced Solar Construction Electrical Inspector to support a large-scale renewable energy project in Hobbs, New Mexico. You will play a critical role in the construction of a 196 MW solar farm comprised of two generation units and an integrated battery energy storage system (BESS).

The project consists of:

  • Unit 1: 72 MW Solar Facility
  • Unit 2: 124 MW Solar Facility
  • Integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
  • Large-scale utility renewable energy infrastructure

You will provide technical and safety oversight throughout construction, ensuring all electrical installations meet design specifications, contract requirements, quality standards, and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide field oversight of EPC contractors performing electrical construction activities.
  • Monitor and verify compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable electrical codes.
  • Oversee installation and commissioning activities involving:
    • Low-voltage systems
    • Medium-voltage systems
    • Solar panel electrical connections
    • NEXTracker systems
    • Inverters and associated equipment
  • Review construction activities and provide technical recommendations to contractors and project teams.
  • Verify electrical wiring, terminations, grounding systems, and equipment installations.
  • Conduct inspections and document findings throughout all phases of construction.
  • Communicate quality, safety, and compliance concerns.
  • Support construction managers by providing technical expertise and field observations.
  • Ensure all work is completed following established safety best practices.
  • Participate in contractor meetings, field walkthroughs, and project coordination activities.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, observations, and corrective actions.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of electrical construction, inspection, or field engineering experience.
  • Experience with:
    • Low-voltage electrical systems
    • Medium-voltage electrical systems
    • Electrical construction oversight
    • Quality assurance and inspections
  • Experience supporting large construction or utility infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with electrical codes, standards, and safety requirements.
