Position Purpose
As a LONG Controls Technician Intern, you will assist Controls Technicians in various stages of building automation system installations according to project specifications. This role includes supporting the installation, performing warranty and emergency services, and conducting maintenance on installed systems. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm with potential for overtime.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties or tasks assigned as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
  • Assist with programing databases for all supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Assist with the installation of control system devices and wiring in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Assist with performing calibration and check-out of control systems and ensure that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met.
  • Assist the graphics coordinator and/or provide the labor and expertise for the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents.
  • Panel fabrication.
  • Light programming.
  • Travel to job sites.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 18 years or older
  • Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
  • Some working knowledge of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
  • Strong customer service and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of personnel to include department managers, project managers, engineers, sales, and controls technicians.
  • Ability to legally drive a company vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Enrollment in Building Automation Educational Program or similar field of study strongly preferred.

  • This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
