Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Solar Crew Lead to oversee residential solar panel installation projects from start to finish. In this hands-on leadership role, you will manage a crew of solar installers, ensure installations meet quality and safety standards, and serve as the on-site point of contact for customers and project coordination. The ideal candidate brings proven solar installation experience, strong leadership skills, and a commitment to safety and workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and supervise a crew of solar installers on residential rooftop solar panel installation projects
• Coordinate daily job site activities including material staging, equipment setup, and crew task assignments
• Install, wire, and commission residential photovoltaic (PV) solar energy systems per engineering plans, NEC code, and manufacturer specifications
• Perform roof penetrations, racking/mounting system assembly, module layout, conduit runs, and electrical connections
• Conduct pre-installation site assessments and post-installation quality inspections
• Ensure all work complies with OSHA safety standards, local building codes, and company safety protocols
• Manage on-site inventory, tools, and equipment; report material needs and shortages
• Communicate project status, issues, and timelines to Field Operations Supervisors and project managers
• Provide on-the-job training, mentoring, and performance feedback to crew members
• Deliver outstanding customer service - represent Better Earth professionally on every job site
• Complete job documentation, daily reports, and safety checklists accurately and on
time
• Drive company vehicles to and from job sites; maintain vehicle cleanliness and report
maintenance needs
Requirements
• Previous solar installation experience - REQUIRED
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Valid state driver's license (clean driving record preferred)
• Ability to lift, pull, and push equipment and materials to complete assigned job tasks
• Ability to lift 50 pounds frequently throughout the workday
• Must be willing and able to climb ladders, stairs, and work on rooftops for extended
periods
• Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and work on feet for long periods of time
• Ability to work in extreme environments including hot sun, cold weather, rain, and
crawl spaces
• Great attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance
• Ability to work well with others in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Qualifications
• NABCEP PV Installation Professional certification or equivalent solar industry
credential
• Experience leading or supervising installation crews (solar foreman, crew lead, or
team lead experience)
• Knowledge of NEC electrical code, residential building codes, and solar permitting
processes
• Familiarity with various roofing types (composite shingle, tile, flat roof) and mounting
systems
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
