Our services include Geotechnical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory Materials Testing, Engineering Geology, and Environmental Engineering.
We are growing and looking for an experienced and motivated Soil Technician to join our team.
Salary Range: $21 to $30 per hour (Depending upon experience)
About the Job:
As a Soil Technician, you will be conducting field work and utilizing computer software for the input/output of soil data and geographical information. This position is also responsible for collecting and analyzing soil samples, conducting quality control inspections, and providing valuable insights to support projects. You will also need to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, positive attitude, good organizational skills, with a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities:
  • Collect, log and prepare soil samples for laboratory analysis using various techniques and equipment
  • Conduct soil testing in the field and lab as needed to determine soils properties such as moisture content, density and composition.
  • Perform field observation of soils and construction materials onsite, and collect soil samples for laboratory testing as required per the project plans and specifications
  • Maintain accurate records of samples, tests, and findings and prepare field daily inspection reports
  • Maintain field equipment to ensure proper function and calibration due dates
  • Proficiency in using lab, field test equipment and software for data analysis
  • Adhere to strict safety standards and protocols in the field and laboratory
  • Maintain professional working relationships and communication with office staff, clients, engineers, contractors, etc.
  • Obtain and/or maintain certifications required by employer
  • Other duties as assigned by the Field Supervisor or his designee.

Requirements:
  • A minimum of 2 to 3 years of proven experience as a Soil Technician or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of soil surveying techniques and data collection methods
  • Familiarity with construction inspection processes and procedures, including the ability to read construction plans and specifications
  • Proficiency in analyzing soil samples in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to accurately record and interpret data.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and specifications related to soil conditions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with engineers, construction teams, and other stakeholders.
  • Must have nuclear gauge certification per The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)
  • Must have transportation with full insurance coverage, and a valid drivers license

Competencies:
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Word processing, spreadsheet and database skills, or other software relevant to generating inspection and testing reports as required.
