Location: Phoenix, AZ 85003
Duration: 6 Months – Temp-to-Hire

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst / Automation Engineer to provide strategic and technical leadership for testing all aspects of a software solution. This hybrid role combines advanced functional testing, business-rule analysis, and test automation engineering.

The QA professional will play a key role in testing a modern web-based enterprise application, contributing to both functional testing and the expansion and maintenance of the automation framework. The ideal candidate will be comfortable analyzing business requirements, designing comprehensive test cases, and translating those scenarios into automated test scripts.

The position will work within an established automation framework utilizing technologies such as Selenium WebDriver and Playwright, while supporting continuous automated testing and reporting throughout the software development lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced functional, black-box, integration, system, ADA/WCAG, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Perform both manual and automated UI testing throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Design comprehensive test cases based on complex business and functional requirements.
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices (RTMs).
  • Translate complex business rules into structured, reusable test scenarios.
  • Build and maintain Page Object Model (POM)-based automation frameworks.
  • Develop automated tests using Selenium WebDriver and/or Playwright with C# or Java.
  • Create and maintain automated smoke and regression test suites.
  • Perform web service testing involving SOAP, REST, and JSON.
  • Write SQL queries for data validation, verification, and backend testing.
  • Utilize relative XPath expressions and object-oriented programming principles.
  • Create comprehensive test plans and define measurable criteria for software quality.
  • Execute hands-on functional, exploratory, and black-box testing while simultaneously developing automated scripts for the same feature sets.
  • Leverage AI-powered testing and development tools, including GitHub Copilot, Modern Requirements, and Copilot for DevOps, to accelerate test design, documentation, and automation.
  • Create, execute, and maintain structured test cases within Azure DevOps.
  • Maintain comprehensive regression test suites.
  • Document defects with clear, concise, and technically detailed reproduction steps.
  • Analyze daily automated test reports to distinguish application defects from automation/script maintenance issues.
  • Collaborate with developers, QA engineers, business stakeholders, and other project teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
  • Validate positive and negative scenarios, cross-browser compatibility, integrations, and business functionality.
  • Meet sprint deadlines while maintaining high standards for test coverage and software quality.
Required Skills
  • Advanced experience with:
    • Functional Testing
    • Black Box Testing
    • Integration Testing

  • Experience developing POM-based automation frameworks.
  • Strong programming experience with C# and/or Java.
  • Experience with SOAP, REST, and JSON web service testing.
  • Strong SQL skills for backend data verification and testing.
  • Experience with relative XPath expressions.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming and design principles.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps.
  • Experience with GitHub, Git, and source control.
  • Experience using Visual Studio 2022 or later.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment.
  • Strong test case design and requirements traceability experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
