Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Perform engineering and project management activities for design development, application, customer order design, and key vendor oversight for the manufacture, assembly, test, installation, and servicing of Data Center Cooling systems for Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) customers. This position must sit in Freedom, PA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead product engineering activities for Data Center and IT Cooling products.
  • Develop and provide vendor oversight of product design drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials required to support order placements and manufacturing/assembly operations; prepare instruction books and renewal parts lists; review or approve technical software submittals required to support order placements, manufacturing/assembly operations and customer needs.
  • Review order documents to ensure MEPPI meets the technical requirements of the contract, including exceptions, clarifications, and confirmations to the customer’s technical specifications when required.
  • Provide technical expertise and support of the development and review of customer proposals.
  • Act as the lead technical liaison between customers, vendors, and CPSD to ensure the needs of all parties are achieved.
  • Work with customers and vendors to resolve technical issues and answer technical questions.
  • Provide technical leadership and information concerning assembly, testing techniques, and process advantages and limitations which affect long-range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Research and analyze operational test data to establish performance standards and to confirm if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Assist Manufacturing and Quality Assurance with any design-related production problems.
  • Coordinate product design with listing agencies to obtain product listings such as UL.
  • Evaluate and escalate risks in projects/products to supervisor and senior management when appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a design engineering capacity, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC products and their application in commercial building applications.
  • Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers, employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Ability to read, understand and create technical drawings and materials.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Advanced computer skills, with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, Computational Fluid Dynamics, CAD and engineering analysis software.
