DESE Research, Inc. is seeking an experienced DevSecOps Engineer to support mission-critical software development efforts in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment. This role requires experience with CI/CD pipeline development, build automation, secure software delivery, and infrastructure supporting software development and testing. Job Details:
The candidate will support the sustainment and enhancement of an existing software baseline for a complex defense system by developing and maintaining secure, automated software build, integration, and deployment processes. This role will work closely with software engineers, systems engineers, and QA Automation Engineers to establish repeatable DevSecOps practices that support daily software builds, automated unit testing, regression testing, and software quality initiatives.
The successful candidate will help improve development workflows through CI/CD automation, build optimization, containerized environments where applicable, vulnerability scanning, and secure deployment processes. This role will also support configuration management, software integration, and continuous improvement efforts to increase development efficiency and software reliability.
A successful candidate will possess strong technical and analytical skills, demonstrate sound troubleshooting abilities, communicate effectively with technical teams and customers, and thrive in a collaborative engineering environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines supporting software development and testing
  • Automate software build, integration, and deployment processes
  • Integrate automated unit testing and regression testing into daily build workflows
  • Support software configuration management and build reproducibility
  • Implement vulnerability scanning and secure software delivery practices
  • Support containerized development and deployment workflows where applicable
  • Troubleshoot build failures, deployment issues, and pipeline performance problems
  • Collaborate with Software Engineering, QA Automation, and Systems Engineering teams to improve development efficiency and software quality
  • Develop and maintain build scripts, automation tools, and deployment documentation
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, security, software reliability, and long-term sustainment

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with build automation, scripting, and software integration
  • Experience supporting Linux-based development environments
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and DevSecOps best practices
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning and secure software delivery concepts
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a customer-facing engineering environment
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting C++ software development environments
  • Familiarity with Ada software environments
  • Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Podman
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar CI/CD platforms
  • Experience implementing automated software testing within CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
  • Experience supporting complex real-time, embedded, or defense software systems
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
