Job description

As an IT Quality Assurance Analyst III at United Wholesale Mortgage, you will join a growing team of Quality Assurance experts skilled in test planning and execution. You will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and stability of the software that powers the most innovative and disruptive company in the fintech space.

We operate in a fast-paced, Agile environment where code is deployed frequently - and we are moving rapidly toward true on-demand deployment. If you're driven, detail-oriented, and passionate about quality assurance testing practices, this role is for you.

This IT QA Analyst III will work on one of our Data & AI Product Development teams.

This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, either now or in the future. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance and testing.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing business requirements for completeness, clarity, testability, and risk.
  • Ability to identify workflow impacts, system dependencies, integration points, and downstream risks early in the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Experience developing and executing comprehensive test strategies and test plans in collaboration with business and technical stakeholders.
  • Strong experience creating, maintaining, and optimizing test cases, including eliminating redundant coverage and improving test effectiveness.
  • Experience performing exploratory testing and identifying risks, edge cases, and defects beyond documented requirements.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end system validation, integration testing, and regression testing.
  • Experience testing APIs and web services.
  • Experience designing and managing test data strategies across integrated systems, including permissions, account provisioning, role validation, and environment dependencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform technical, business, process, and data risk assessments and communicate mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to evaluate usability and customer experience across complex workflows.
  • Experience leading quality discussions and influencing technical and business decisions related to risk and release readiness.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience assessing defect severity, business impact, and release risk while partnering with stakeholders on resolution approaches.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming principles and modern software architecture concepts.
  • Availability for testing support outside standard business hours when required for post deploy verification.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in Pontiac, Michigan.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in mortgage, financial services, lending, banking, or regulated industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
  • Experience identifying automation opportunities and partnering with Quality Engineers or Developers to expand automated test coverage.
  • Familiarity with Playwright, Selenium, LoadRunner, or similar automation and performance testing platforms.
  • Ability to mentor and coach less experienced Quality Analysts.
  • Experience supporting automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience validating data warehouses, reporting platforms, ETL processes, Power BI, SSRS, or other business intelligence solutions.
  • Experience using Generative AI to support quality planning, test design, documentation, or automation efforts.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based applications and distributed system architectures.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
  • Designing, building, and managing test plans and strategies of multiple concurrent projects
  • Serving as a subject matter expert in UWM's applications, tools, and testing/defect processes
  • Following industry-standard defect management processes and ensuring proper documentation
  • Collaborating with development, product, and quality engineering to ensure smooth delivery
  • Conducting peer reviews of test cases to ensure rigor and consistency
  • Performing manual testing and contributing to automated test creation
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance and streamline testing processes
