The Senior Application Manager finds, implements, and maintains departmental and enterprise-level software solutions. This position is a point of contact for stakeholders, and provide education and support to county personnel throughout the lifespan of the application. The Senior Application Manager is a mentor to others on the team, and provides training to team-members and departmental contacts.

Project Development and Communication

  • Analyze the structure and flow of the business and provide application solutions
  • Be aware of the latest software developments how they can be applied to make the business more efficient and successful
  • Develop Quality Assurance test plans and conduct testing on all software and upgrades
  • Develop Training plans for software deployments
  • Use effective communication to develop and maintain application documentation such as training materials, FAQ s, etc.
  • Ensure application and use by clients complies with all laws, regulations, policies, and best practices
  • Represent Division of Information Technology in professional presentations and purchasing meetings

Hardware and Software Implementation and Upgrades

  • Ensure all centrally-managed third-party applications are patched within three months of security patch release, pending successful regression testing
  • Lead teams of IT specialists, clients, and vendors responsible for implementing, deploying, or upgrading application software
  • Work with clients and guide them through the QA Testing process
  • Ensure servers are ready before implementing new systems, and carefully monitor the rolling-out processes
  • Use critical thinking to prevent and correct any unforeseen circumstances/failures, and assist Application Managers to answer questions and troubleshoot issues
  • Maintain a test environment and test new releases before they are put into production
  • Advanced knowledge of security;  active directory and software applications, and how they differ

Troubleshooting Issues

  • Provide advanced technical support and problem resolution related to business application software systems.
  • Use advanced problem solving to resolve software and infrastructure issues
  • Provide advanced support for applications and backup for all applications managers; act as a lead/mentor for issues and questions
  • Provide advance after hours On-Call Support

Minimum Qualifications: Five years of experience supporting desktop or business applications.  Up to four years of experience may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills.

Preferred Qualifications: Six years of experience in computer technology and application deployment, and SQL query writing abilities. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer technology, business administration, management information or related field. CompTIA (A+, N+), IT Security certifications.
