Job description

The Functional Analyst provides mission-focused functional management and analytical support for the U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) Transportation Visualizer (TransViz) capability, supporting global force movement planning and transportation analysis across the Joint Deployment and Distribution Enterprise. TransViz enables planners to access and visualize transportation requirements and operational data in real time to evaluate courses of action, identify anomalies, and support decision-making for global mobility operations.

The Functional Analyst supports USTRANSCOM personnel and transportation component commands by analyzing operational requirements, assisting users with TransViz application functionality, and ensuring system capabilities align with mission needs. Responsibilities include providing functional application support, assisting with data retrieval, reporting, and dashboard configuration, and identifying system or data anomalies impacting command operations. The analyst collaborates with stakeholders to recommend system enhancements, track issue resolution with development teams, and support configuration management and system updates.

If you are someone who is a self-motivated, very detail oriented, good troubleshooter than can document the steps well, enjoys functional testing, can assist users/explain and document things (not necessarily a trainer), and eager to learn this might be the role for you. The nice-to-haves are familiarity with JOPES/JPES/TransViz or other USTRANSCOM or transportation systems, technical background or certs would be helpful.

The role also supports system lifecycle activities including functional testing of new applications and software upgrades, development of test plans and reports, and participation in working groups, meetings, and demonstrations that improve system performance and operational effectiveness. The Functional Analyst may assist with development of documentation such as concept of operations (CONOPS), standard operating procedures (SOPs), user guides, and training materials as software capabilities evolve.

Additional responsibilities include supporting user account administration, facilitating collaboration across operational planning communities, and delivering training or demonstrations to ensure effective utilization of TransViz capabilities. The position requires strong analytical skills, the ability to translate operational transportation requirements into system functionality, and familiarity with DoD planning and deployment systems supporting global mobility operations.

Candidates should possess experience supporting DoD logistics or transportation systems, strong requirements analysis and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to communicate complex operational concepts to both technical teams and mission users in a fast-paced operational environment.
