Job description

As the Software Engineering Manager for our client digital platforms, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day development, delivery, and operational support of our client-facing digital platforms, including our client website and mobile application. You will work closely with our business partners to shape the future of Bessemer digital engagement with clients and provide the technical leadership to ensure the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable solutions that support an exceptional digital client experience. The successful candidate must possess deep technical expertise and be capable of making architectural decisions, reviewing technical designs, troubleshooting complex production issues, and providing hands-on technical guidance to engineering teams. Direct coding is not expected but is considered a plus. The ideal candidate combines strong engineering leadership with experience managing cloud-native applications on AWS, delivering high-quality software, and leading hybrid teams of employees and consulting partners in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Lead day-to-day software development lifecycle for the firm's client website and mobile app
  • Drive planning, prioritization, estimation, release management, and production deployments
  • Lead and develop a blended team of internal software engineers, QA engineers, and external consulting resources
  • Review solution designs and architectural decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, performance and security
  • Partner with architects and senior engineers on technology strategy and platform evolution
  • Mentor team members and foster their professional growth through coaching, performance feedback, and career development plans
  • Champion the use of AI to improve engineering productivity and software quality while identifying opportunities to enhance the client experience
  • Champion the adoption of AI to improve engineering productivity, software quality, and the client digital experience

Engineering Expertise
  • Strong understanding of AWS services: Lambda, AppSync, DynamoDB, WAF, Cloudtrail and Cloudwatch, Redshift
  • CI/CD automation with tools such as BitBucket, Git, Sonatype, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, CodePipelines
  • Strong understanding of Identity and Access Management (SAML, OAUTH, OPENID, AWS Cognito, Okta)
  • Experience supporting mobile applications, including app store submission, approval, and release management
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Playwright), application observability, and real-time monitoring
  • Strong understanding of application security best practices, vulnerability management, and automated security scanning

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including several years leading engineering teams
  • Proven experience managing software delivery for customer-facing web and/or mobile applications
  • Strong technical background in modern cloud-native application development
  • Experience managing teams consisting of both employees and consulting partners
  • Experience operating in Agile software development environments
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Self-motivated and deadline focused
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills (able to handle multiple priorities)
  • Bachelor's degree required

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $240,000. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skills, experience, and qualification for the role. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range.
In addition, this position may be eligible for a discretionary incentive based on individual and company performance.
Eligible employees may participate in a 401 (k) program with a company profit sharing contribution, medical, dental, vision, life insurance and disability coverage and paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
