Job description

What is Fizz
Fizz is America's biggest college social app, allowing Gen Z to connect around their shared experiences and identities. College Fizz communities feature a private, moderated feed of posts from verified students, making it the most entertaining and authentic way to experience student life. Our newest product, Global Fizz, brings together all of Gen Z nationwide, providing a space to satisfy the 99% of life not on entertainment platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Fizz is on a mission to bring social back to social media.
What we've done
We first launched Fizz at Stanford in July 2021 and have since seen >95% of undergraduates join the app, half of which use Fizz every day. Since raising a $25M Series B in July 2023, we have established ourselves as the dominant community platform at 700+ colleges, have begun to generate revenue through advertising, and are actively expanding to communities beyond college.
Where we're going
We have three primary goals for 2025-2026: continue our expansion to the entire US college market, drive revenue growth through our revolutionary ads business, and rapidly iterate on our product to become the dominant social platform for all of Gen Z, not just US college students.
As a Fizz intern, you will be able to use your own experience of being a Fizz user to directly build for a product you care about. We aim to give our engineering interns the same responsibilities and autonomy as full-time engineers, and you'll be responsible for owning large initiatives end-to-end. If this type of experience excites you, this internship will be a great fit.
Interns will work full-time out of our NYC office and receive a housing stipend + financial compensation.
Your responsibilities
  • Imagine, design, deploy, and iterate new product features end-to-end (example projects include building advanced systems that use LLMs to moderate content, architecting a content recommendation system to improve the Fizzin feed, building new product features like campus events or job postings, and much more).
  • Write clean, efficient, and scalable code that meets project requirements.
  • Design and implement RESTful APIs that are scalable, reliable, and secure.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to support ongoing projects and tasks.
Qualifications
  • Be a current or graduating college student that is personally a user of Fizz.
  • Strong fundamentals of CS concepts such as Algorithms, Data Structures, Networking, Operating Systems, Databases.
  • Experience building several products from 0-1
  • Direct experience with any area of our tech stack (Swift, Google Cloud Platform, Typescript, Node JS)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
