Job Description

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:ย 

* Helps determine the manufacturing processes required to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specificationย 

* Works with engineering to identify problems with product and performance; may recommend solutions or enhancementsย 

* Assists with plans and designs methods to improve efficiency in production.ย 

* Work to improve equipment availability and capability by utilizing continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.ย 

* Define manufacturing standard working methodsย 

* Study time, motion, methods, and speed involved in maintenance, production, and other operations to establish standard production rate and improve efficiencyย 

* Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standardsย 

* Read worker logs, product processing sheets, and specification sheets, to verify that records adhere to quality assurance specificationsย 

* Aid in planning work assignments in accordance with worker performance, machine capacity, production schedules, and anticipated delaysย 

* Prepare charts, graphs, and diagrams to illustrate workflow, routing, floor layouts, material handling, and machine utilizationย 

Qualifications

equired Education/Experience:ย 

* Bachelor degree in engineering is required. Would prefer to see a degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical and/or Industrial Engineeringย 

* Minimum 2-4 years' automotive manufacturing experienceย 


Preferred Experience:ย 

* Lean, Six Sigma experienceย 

* Transfer line experience would be very beneficial for this position.ย 


Responsibility Level:ย 

* Exercises moderate independent judgment with direction from supervisorย 


Required Skills:ย 

* Basic competence in the body of knowledge as defined by the Society of Manufacturing Engineers for a Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT).ย 

* The body of knowledge includes the following areas: Mathematics, Applied Science, Process Design, Materials, Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Management, Manufacturing Economics, Quality Control, Computer Applications, and Automation.ย 

* Working knowledge of the Fundamentals of Manufacturing.ย 

* More than 2 years of experience working as a Manufacturing Engineer, but not yet a Certified Manufacturing Technologist (Society of Manufacturing Engineers or local equivalent)ย 

* Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computationsย 

* Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reportsย 

* Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD)ย 


Preferred Skills:ย 

* Knowledge of various hardware and software used in the control of manufacturing processes and equipment. Includes understanding of the following: Programmable Logic Controllers, Ladder Logic, and Human-Machine Interfaces.ย 

* Communication networks and protocols used on the shop floor.ย 

* Control systems including pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical sources of energy. Sensors, actuators, and various loop control technologies.ย 

* Motion control, servo systems, and multi-axis control including robotics. Working knowledge of electrical controls.ย 

* Good understanding of programmable logic controllers and ladder logic programs.ย 

* Can troubleshoot electrical circuits and understand electrical prints.ย 

* Understand how machines operate and can suggest and implement basic improvements.ย 

* Basic knowledge of the interface of the shop floor control system to the plant's Manufacturing Execution System.ย 

- Strong tooling knowledge and backgroundย 

- Understanding and familiarity of Transfer equipmentย
