Position Summary
Goodfellow Bros. is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and maintain trusted data pipelines, models, and platforms that support timely, accurate, and actionable business decisions across the organization. This role connects data from enterprise systems, field operations, finance, equipment, safety, and project delivery tools into reliable, governed, and usable data assets. Working at the intersection of technology, operations, and analytics, the Data Engineer translates business needs into scalable data solutions that improve reporting, operational visibility, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, business-curious, and comfortable partnering with both technical and non-technical teams. While the role is primarily focused on data engineering, it also supports analytics, dashboard enablement, trend analysis, forecasting, and the development of data products that business users can trust.
Position Description
  • Own the full lifecycle of data pipelines connecting ERP, field operations, and enterprise systems into a unified data layer.
  • Establish and maintain pipeline patterns, data quality frameworks, and engineering standards that can scale across the organization.
  • Build and support curated data models, semantic layers, and datasets for reporting, dashboards, and self-service analytics.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational questions into data requirements, source-to-target logic, data definitions, and reusable reporting assets.
  • Implement automated data quality checks, monitoring alerts, and lineage documentation to strengthen trust in enterprise data.
  • Support forecasting, predictive analysis, and machine-learning-ready datasets where appropriate, ensuring outputs are explainable, practical, and tied to business decisions.
  • Coordinate with IT, platform owners, finance, field operations, and other internal teams to align data architecture, integrations, security, governance, and support expectations.

Required Education, Experience, and Technical Knowledge

  • Ability to work with stakeholders to define metrics, document business rules, and translate operational needs into practical technical solutions.
  • Working knowledge of data quality practices, data governance, access controls, documentation, and support models.
  • Familiarity with Python, TypeScript, notebooks, statistical analysis, forecasting, or machine-learning concepts preferred.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer-service skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
