Job description

What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Software Engineer Level 3, you will design, develop, test, integrate, and maintain software solutions supporting mission-critical systems in Linux-based environments. You will develop Java applications and services, work with RESTful interfaces and structured data, and support modern software development and deployment practices.
You will collaborate with engineering teams throughout the software development lifecycle while contributing to application development, integration, troubleshooting, testing, and modernization efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and services in Linux environments
  • Develop and integrate RESTful services and APIs using JAX-RS and related technologies
  • Develop solutions that process and exchange JSON and XML data
  • Build and manage Java applications using Maven
  • Use Git and GitLab for source control, collaboration, and software development workflows
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex software and integration issues
  • Participate in software design, code reviews, testing, integration, and documentation
  • Support application modernization and deployment activities
  • Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to develop reliable and maintainable software solutions

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Strong professional software engineering and Java development experience
  • Experience developing and supporting software in Linux environments
  • Experience with JAX-RS and RESTful services
  • Experience working with JSON and XML
  • Experience with Maven for Java project builds and dependency management
  • Experience with Eclipse or similar integrated development environments
  • Experience using Git and GitLab for source control and collaborative development
  • Strong software troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team

  • Twenty-four (24) years of relevant Software Engineering experience supporting projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.Eighteen (18) years of relevant Software Engineering experience supporting projects with similar software processes may be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.

Clearance Requirement:
 

  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
