What is a software engineer internship?

A Software Engineer Internship is a temporary position where students or entry-level professionals gain hands-on experience in software development. Software Engineer Interns are often assigned to real-world projects that may include developing new features, fixing bugs, writing automated tests, or improving documentation. They usually work as part of a development team under the mentorship of experienced engineers, which allows them to participate in code reviews, agile meetings, and collaborative problem-solving sessions. The exact responsibilities may vary, but interns are regularly exposed to the full software development lifecycle and are encouraged to ask questions and contribute ideas. This hands-on experience not only builds technical skills but also prepares interns for full-time roles after graduation.
