Your Role at Baxter

As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for the research and development of advanced vision care cloud solutions, saving vision for diabetic patients in primary healthcare settings. You will be involved with the entire lifecycle including architecture, design, development, and sustaining engineering for new and existing products. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on technical abilities, an understanding of modern software practices, a vision for software development, and a passion for their work in redefining healthcare!

What you'll be doing
  • Support new product development and sustaining development for cloud-based products.
  • Build and enhance RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop high-quality, testable software that meets product, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, standups, design reviews, retrospectives, and software demonstrations.
  • Conduct code reviews, maintain technical documentation, and drive software quality, security, and performance standards.
  • Implement automated testing and continuous improvement practices while staying current with emerging web technologies, development frameworks, and industry trends.
What you'll bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with 1-2 years of professional, internship, co-op, or project-based software development experience.
  • Experience developing applications using C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, and SQL, with a strong foundation in writing clean, maintainable code.
  • Exposure to cloud-based applications and a passion for learning how scalable, high-availability enterprise software is built and supported.
  • Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases, including hands-on experience designing, querying, or maintaining data solutions.
  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including testing, documentation, code reviews, version control, and maintainability.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture, API development, and modern testing approaches such as unit, integration, or performance testing.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Azure DevOps, or other build and deployment automation tools.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a self-driven mindset and eagerness to learn new technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $88,000-$121,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
