PUBLIC WORKS/TRANSPORTATION PRACTICE

What We're Looking For:

Michael Baker International's Public Works/Transportation Team in Carlsbad, CA is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience supporting transportation and public works projects for municipal and county clients throughout Southern California.

What You'll Do:

  • Assist engineers with transportation, traffic, active transportation, and public works projects.
  • Support the preparation of plans, reports, cost estimates, and technical documents.
  • Perform research, data collection, and basic engineering calculations.
  • Gain experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and other design tools.
  • Participate in team meetings, project discussions, and occasional field visits.
  • Learn from experienced professionals through mentorship and training opportunities.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Interest in Transportation and/or Public Works Engineering.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office is preferred.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in a professional consulting environment.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is up to $25/hour. This compensation range is a good-faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
