Job Summary
Civil Engineers plan, design, and direct engineering projects such as pipelines, tunnels, water and sewage systems. They assess potential construction sites, check existing structures for upgrades, and create drawings and schematics of projects using computer-aided design (CAD) software. A Civil Engineer EIT performs engineering work under close supervision requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out a sequence of related civil engineering tasks such as the preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards and drawings. Applies professional concepts and expands upon learning while performing various phases of engineering work receiving detailed instruction.
Your Key Responsibilities
  • Use knowledge of general concepts of civil engineering elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects such as pipelines, tunnels, water and sewage systems.
  • Perform basic calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
  • Assist team in preparing civil designs, drawings, specifications, presentations and reports, and gather information to support design decisions.
  • Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
  • Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
  • Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
  • Perform field work related to construction related activities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office and AutoCAD preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to creatively apply technical knowledge.
  • Attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to support team success, and ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience
  • Education: Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 0-2 years of related work experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
  • Licensure/Certification: EIT certification preferred; EIT certification required to be successfully obtained within 12 months of employment.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).
Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
