Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI is hiring an Engineer-in-Training to join our Pittsburgh, PA office. 

Responsibilities include:

    • Assist in the development of multiple construction plans for transportation projects.  These duties will be performed under the supervision of a senior project engineer or project manager.
    • Perform work which involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.  Assignments usually include engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
    • Help to coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, as well as performing drafting/CADD work for the project. 
    • Develops engineering reports, quantities and Construction Cost Estimates

The ideal candidate will posses these preferred qualifications:

    • General Knowledge and/or experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads
    • Candidate must have good communication and technical writing skills and a working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and NACTO standards
    • EIT certification Preferred
Qualifications

Education and/or Skills Required: 0-2 Years of experience Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, OpenRoads) Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Good communication and technical writing skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred: Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Required: Valid Driver's License Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification

Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
