Job description

cellumation Inc., with its one of a kind, patented celluveyor technology, offers powerful automation solutions for material flow systems in intralogistics and distribution. We are seeking a dynamic hands-on Field Service & Integration Engineer to join our U.S. team. This role bridges the gap between hardware commissioning, low-voltage electrical diagnostics, and seamless integration of our proprietary software into the customer’s automation environment. Working closely with our U.S. customers, integrators, and our German headquarters, this position is ideal for someone who thrives on technical problem solving, interface integration, and teaching smart logistics technologies. This position reports directly to the U.S. Customer Service Manager, with close collaboration with the Global Head of Customer Service in Germany.

Field Service & Integration Engineer

Your Responsibilities:

Technical Training & Customer Enablement

  • Deliver professional technical training sessions (on-site and online) to integrators, partners, and customer maintenance/engineering teams in the U.S.
  • Own the on-site handoff process, providing hands-on customer guidance, operational training, and troubleshooting support during critical system go-live phases.
  • Advise customers on system optimization, recommended maintenance practices, and spare parts management.
  • Navigate and debug smart modular controller units using Linux command-line interface (CLI) tools to inspect logs, perform software updates, and verify configurations.
  • Diagnose TCP/IP networks, verifying subnet boundaries, IP assignments, gateway configurations, and local communication routing between modules.
  • Collaborate closely with customers' PLC programmers and network engineers to align system interfaces (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET), map data structures, and troubleshoot software handshakes.
  • Support light PLC modifications, functional interface testing, and diagnostic tasks (no heavy custom programming required).
  • Perform systematic electrical diagnostics and low-voltage work (24VDC), including control cabinet troubleshooting, wiring verification, and fault isolation on-site.
  • Deliver reliable field support for installations, mechanical validation, sensor calibrations, and system-level troubleshooting.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and recommend corrective actions to maximize system uptime.
  • Manage service tickets, documenting all site activities, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions clearly in our customer service tracking system.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in industrial automation, field service, or mechatronics system integration.
  • Proven confidence navigating Linux CLI environments to check configuration files, inspect logs, and deploy software components on smart modular controller units.
  • Confident in network diagnostics (TCP/IP, routing, subnets) and highly interested or experienced in industrial protocols (such as EtherNet/IP or PROFINET).
  • Practical understanding of electrical systems and low-voltage electrical work (24VDC), with the ability to read electrical wiring diagrams and perform hardware fault analysis.
  • Experience in interfacing with PLC systems or supporting industrial software integrations is a strong plus.
  • Professional communication and training skills; you genuinely enjoy explaining technical concepts, teaching, and supporting customers.
  • Self-starter attitude with a strong desire to shape new, scalable service processes in a growing organization.
  • Flexible, service-oriented mindset combined with a structured and analytical approach to solving problems.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the U.S. (~50%) and make 1–2 training trips to Germany per year.
  • Willingness to work in a hybrid setup (balancing remote work, office prep days in The Woodlands, TX, and travel).
  • Competitive base salary
  • Excellent Health and Wellness Benefits
  • Matching 401K
