The Enterprise Risk Engine (ERE) team within Enterprise Middleware & Online Security plays a critical role in protecting Schwab and its clients through advanced fraud detection and prevention capabilities. As a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test, you will help shape the quality strategy for a highly scalable, resilient platform by advancing automation, quality engineering practices, and continuous testing capabilities. Working closely with software engineers, architects, product teams, and business partners, you will drive solutions that improve software reliability, accelerate delivery, and strengthen risk management outcomes.

This role offers the opportunity to influence enterprise-wide testing approaches, modernize automation frameworks, enhance CI/CD quality practices, and apply emerging AI capabilities to improve testing effectiveness. Success requires strong technical leadership, analytical thinking, collaboration, and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced Agile environment where quality is built into every stage of delivery.

What you have
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale test automation frameworks and quality engineering solutions.
  • Strong experience developing automation solutions using Java and modern test automation frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with Selenium, Cucumber, and automated testing tools.
  • Experience testing APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience with GitHub, source control, code reviews, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Strong knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and quality engineering practices.
  • Demonstrated experience creating test strategies, automation architectures, and scalable testing solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and influence across engineering, architecture, product, and business teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures and modern platform engineering practices.
  • Experience implementing continuous testing and advanced test data management strategies.
  • Experience with performance testing approaches and tools.
  • Technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience within Agile teams.
