THIS POSITION IS 100% ON-SITE IN PHOENIX AZ
POSITION'S PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Supervisor of SDET leads and mentors a team of Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs), responsible for the design, implementation, enhancement and maintenance of automated test frameworks, infrastructure, and best practices within the software delivery lifecycle. This role combines hands-on SDET work with team leadership, providing technical guidance, performance management, and fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement in automated testing.
Essential Duties:
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship (30%): Provide technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to a team of SDETs, fostering their professional growth and ensuring they adhere to best practices in test automation. Conduct regular 1:1 meetings, performance reviews, and address performance concerns.
  • Automation Framework Development & Maintenance (25%): Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and reusable automated test frameworks and tools. Lead efforts to enhance existing automation infrastructure and introduce new technologies as needed.
  • Test Strategy & Planning (20%): Collaborate with development, product owners, and Test Engineering Managers to define test strategies, establish test automation coverage goals, and advocate for quality initiatives. Develop and review test plans, automation approaches, and data strategies.
  • Hands-on SDET Work (15%): Contribute to the development of automated test scripts, database verification, and data-driven tests. Participate in code reviews and ensure the quality of automated test code.
  • Process Improvement & Standards (10%): Champion continuous process improvement initiatives related to test automation. Develop and maintain standards for automation code, documentation, and testing practices. Provide regular status updates and presentations to stakeholders.

Edication/Traning Requierments:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or 5 years' experience in related field.
Experience: How many years of previous JOB RELATED experience (and what kind) is typically required to learn to perform this job with the specified educational background?
  • 5+ years of experience as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) or similar role.
  • 2+ years of experience in a leadership or mentoring role (formal or informal).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
  • Significant experience with automation frameworks and tools.

Skills/Knowledge:
  • Proficient in coding languages such as C#or Python (expertise in .NET/C# highly preferred).
  • Expert knowledge of test automation frameworks (Selenium, Appium, Playwright, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, system, and regression testing.
  • Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira).
  • Proficient in SQL and database testing techniques.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide clear solutions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) and the ability to give constructive feedback.
  • Ability to translate highly technical automation concepts into "business value" for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
