Job description

Overview

While our Sr. Software Engineer II are involved in multiple areas throughout the Technology organization, primarily they are responsible for working with the Technology and the Business teams to design, build, and implement web and process applications. These Team Members are also charged with assisting the Client Success department in resolving production process issues.

What Youโ€™ll Do
  • Propose technical solutions to the Manager, Application Engineering.
  • Design, develop, test, and implement improvements or new features for the Waystar website and core processing applications.
  • Develop and augment applications based on functional and technical specifications.
  • Adhere to Waystar coding standards and approve technologies, proposing amendments when necessary.
  • Perform unit tests on all changes during development and collaborate with Business and Technology Owners to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Communicate development progress daily to senior-level team members.
  • Respond to work items assigned through the internal case system in a timely fashion.
  • Take ownership of assigned work items, communicate estimates, daily progress as part of the SDLC, and work to resolve blocking issues.
  • Assist in QA processes and participate in Production Code Turn days, providing instructions for code deployment and post-release smoke testing.
  • Maintain open and fluid communication with Management and maintain positive relationships with other team members.
  • Collaborate on creation and approval of technical specifications.
  • Identify areas needing refactoring and propose optimization or technology improvement solutions.
  • Notify the Manager, Application Engineering of problems impacting applications and help implement solutions.
  • Reassign items that cannot be addressed in a timely fashion in collaboration with the Manager, Application Engineering.
  • Provide estimates for project tasks using an internal project tool and update them as needed.
  • Solve complex technical problems with minimal oversight.
  • Mentor fellow Application Engineers, helping them build correct technical solutions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
What Youโ€™ll Need
  • 6+ years of .NET and SQL Server experience.
  • Unit testing experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastโ€‘paced, changeโ€‘friendly environment.
  • Highly selfโ€‘motivated and able to work independently or in a team.
  • Experience building highly scalable software solutions.
  • Subjectโ€‘matter expertise in at least one technical track.
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
Preferred Skills
  • Nโ€‘Tier and SaaS development experience.
