Software Engineer I

About Mimecast

The work people build is worth protecting, and it's harder to protect than it used to be. AI agents now move at machine speed with human-level access, and a small slip-up can become a very public one. We disrupt cybercriminal activity before that happens. We think fast, go big, and always demand more of ourselves. We work hard, deliver, and repeat. We grow with real determination and put success well within reach. We push each other to be better and expect to be pushed back, in a community built on respect, where everyone is counted. Work Protected.

Overview

Incydr Product Development is looking for a Software Engineer I to join our Incydr Insider Risk Management team as a backend developer. You'll work on critical services processing billions of customer events worldwide, writing new services and APIs and maintaining existing services hosted on AWS. • Write infrastructure as code and manage the deployment of services owned by the team.

  • Assist with production issues and escalated customer questions for services owned by the team.

  • Document code, create design documents, and review code and designs from others.

  • Synthesize requirements into cohesive designs, identifying gaps and contradictions.

  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, story mapping, authoring sessions, and demos of team deliverables.

  • Contribute to engineering process improvements and collaborate across Product Development, including with product owners, UI/UX designers, QA analysts, technical writers, and customer champions.

  • Participate in the team's on-call rotation to support production services and respond to incidents as needed.

What You'll Bring

  • Professional backend software engineering experience and the ability to deliver defined projects with guidance while taking ownership of your work.

  • Experience with Kotlin, the primary language of the team, or Java.

  • Experience with object-oriented development; experience with microservices or multi-tier systems is a plus.

  • Experience with testing frameworks and continuous integration and deployment concepts.

  • Experience with data repository technologies such as PostgreSQL and Elasticsearch.

  • Experience working with agile or lean development processes.

  • The discipline and rigor needed to deliver critical features and build systems that work well.

  • A collaborative approach, including offering and asking for help and contributing and responding constructively to feedback.

  • The ability to work with non-technical colleagues and communicate technical ideas clearly in writing and conversation.

  • A passion for learning new things and sharing knowledge with the team.
