Job description

TAMKO is searching for an experienced Electrical / Controls Engineer for our Engineering and Construction division with the passion and motivation to contribute to new equipment design and installation. The ideal candidate must be a self-motivated problem solver who finds pragmatic solutions to highly technical challenges.

Summary of Essential Functions:

  • Integrate electrical systems into new equipment designs.
  • Research components and field devices for electrical equipment and systems for use in manufacturing production lines.
  • Supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical equipment, components, and systems.
  • Manages electrical and programming contractors through scope definition, acceptance testing, and commissioning phases of capital projects.
  • Inspect and observe facilities to evaluate the efficacy and quality of electrical systems, components, and products.
  • Devise testing methods and properties to confirm the functionality of electrical components and systems.
  • Develop electrical products and systems that meet customer specifications and comply with all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Research and test manufacturing and assembly processes; develop innovative processes to improve or modify current methods.
  • Conduct research to collect and analyze data to create reports about ongoing projects.
  • Communicate engineering information across teams and departments to facilitate successful completion of large-scale projects.
  • Troubleshoot to solve unforeseen problems with product design or implementation.
  • Maintain detailed database to catalog products and component parts.
  • Train and supervise technicians to assist in project completion.
  • Expand professional and technical knowledge of leading-edge developments in electrical engineering through participation in professional organizations, networking events, and educational workshops.
  • Travel up to 30%.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a similar field
  • Previous work experience in electrical engineering or a related position
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD or other computer-aided design software applications
  • Experience in PLC programming including Siemens TIA portal and Step 7
  • Experience with Siemens hardware
    • PLCs 300 and 1500 series
    • Remote IO Systems
    • Safety IO
    • S120 & G120 Drive Systems
  • Ability to draft clear documents about highly technical subject matter
  • Thorough understanding of electronic systems and component materials
  • Capacity to analyze a problem from multiple perspectives and explore creative solutions
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail with a desire for excellence
  • Familiarity with HART, PROFINET, PROFIBUS, and other industrial fieldbus protocols
