Job Description:

Role Summary

As an analyst on the Health Marketing Analytics team, you will be part of a large analytics community and will be focused within the Client Experience Office (CXO), supporting the Client Experience team. This team is responsible for the design and execution of clear, compelling and caring client journeys, and using data and analytics to understand our clients and how our business can best support them in achieving their goals of lifetime financial security and living healthier lives. The Data Analyst will be helping the team by, but not limited to, mining data for business insights, analyzing and interpreting trends using statistical tools and techniques, reporting on business performance, and triaging code and data-related issues.

Technical skills and a thirst for learning. How to wrangle structured data is a must (i.e., SQL) with strong SAS skills needed currently. The transition to Python is underway as our data environment matures, and we're looking for people who strive to continuously learn and try new tools and techniques.

What will you do?

  • Analytic work from requirements specification, data gathering, analysis to presentations in order to solve business problems.
  • Deliver reports that are easy to interpret and rich with information
  • Support marketing campaigns, client targeting, campaign design and measurement, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to draw out business insights from analytical output and work with team leads to put together business recommendations.
  • Work with manager to put together effective presentations of findings and desire to present to multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Automate recurring tasks to free up team capacity. Find efficient ways of working
  • Work with stakeholders across Sun Life as a subject matter expert in client data
  • Leverage internal training, peers and other sources to continue to grow capabilities
  • An active contributing member to the analytics academy to help foster and grow the data science community at Sun Life

What you need to succeed:

2 + years experience working with data (i.e., quantitative analysis experience, including handling, manipulating, and analyzing data, hypothesis testing, data modelling and data visualization)

2 + years experience with SQL, PySpark and other programming languages. Comfortable writing accurate, efficient, but complex SQL queries to extract and integrate data from multiple database sources.

  • Experience with AWS Cloud Services (e.g. Glue, S3, Athena, Quick Suite)
  • Experience working with Tableau or other visualization tools
  • Experience using oral and written storytelling to share data driven insights in a clear, succinct manner.
  • Strong partnering approach with a commitment to meeting business partners' unique needs and expectations.
  • In-depth prioritization, planning, and change management skills to stay within time/scope of a task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable learning new applications and processes quickly with minimal direction
  • Ability to document work.

What will be nice to have?

  • Understanding of predictive and prescriptive techniques (i.e., regression, decision trees, forecasting etc.)
  • Experience in Salesforce
  • MSc preferably in a statistical, mathematical, or technical field (i.e., computer science)
  • Experience developing systems integrated with Generative AI, Agentic AI, Conversational AI
  • Advanced user of MS Excel and MS Access

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
