Job description

Software Engineer (4) - Premium Senior Engineer #1055492
Job Description:
Are you a high-performing software engineer who loves to code but is also ready to steer the technical direction of a product?
  • The Global Health & Safety (GHS) team is seeking an Anchor Software Engineer to lead the development of critical applications that impact the safety and well-being of employees worldwide.
  • At company, the Anchor is the technical heartbeat of the "Balanced Team." Unlike traditional lead roles that move away from the keyboard, the Anchor stays "in the code," spending their day writing software while simultaneously serving as a mentor, architect, and strategic partner to Product Management and Design.
  • You will lead by example within a Lean, Agile, and eXtreme Programming (XP) environment, ensuring technical health, continuity, and high-quality delivery.
  • In this position the Anchor will work both in a project and operational support role as needed.
  • The project will be the primary focus.
  • The Anchor will work with both company and supplier resources, giving direction and guidance.
  • The project is for two applications supporting the global occupational health and safety offices.
  • We are looking to move from multiple fragmented applications and processes into at least 2 primary global applications.
  • One application is already underway, the second is all new.

The "Anchor" Mindset
  • Humble Leadership: You are the most technically capable person on the team but remain humble enough to pair with a junior developer and learn something new.
  • Problem Solver: You thrive on solving complex problems and optimizing application performance and resiliency.
  • Effective Communicator: You can translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and collaborate across functional boundaries.

Technical Proficiencies:
  • Back-End: Strong experience in Java (Spring Cloud/Boot), Python, or C#; building RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Front-End: Proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue.js), HTML5, and CSS3. Understanding responsive design (e.g., Bootstrap) and basic user experience principles.
  • Cloud/DevOps: Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), OpenShift, and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Tekton, Maven, or Gradle). Proficiency in Git and GitHub for team collaboration.
  • Data Management: Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (Oracle, MySQL, MongoDB) and schema migration tools (Liquibase).
  • Security: Understanding of OAuth, EntraID authentication flows, and SPII/PII data handling. Experience in quality control and security tools like 42 Crunch, FOSSA, etc.

Experience & Education:
  • Professional Experience: 5-8+ years of software engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering full-stack products.
  • XP Experience: Demonstrated experience with eXtreme Programming disciplines, specifically Paired Programming and TDD.
  • Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
