Job description

Congressional School seeks a fun and dynamic individual to work as a full-time Early Childhood Teaching Assistant in our Infant/Toddler program. The individual should enjoy working with children ages 6 weeks to 2 years old. Our teaching assistants, along with our students, get to enjoy our 40 acre campus including our walking paths, creek, horses, swimming pool and dedicated playgrounds. The position is on float rotation and traditional hours are 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
The Teaching Assistant will join a collaborative classroom team and assist in planning and implementing the daily program; actively supervise the classroom and playgrounds; and observe, interact, and engage with children. Duties will include maintaining proper adult to child ratios with each age grouping and classroom; monitoring the playground and classroom at all times; helping with meals, and snacks; and following daily staffing schedule and assisting other classrooms as needed.
Qualified candidates will have experience working with infants and toddlers. Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a child related field or a child development/early childhood credential.
Requirements include the ability to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the course of the day and the ability to regularly bend, stoop and crouch in order to physically interact with children and ensure their safety. Qualified candidates must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents, and co-workers.
Starting hourly rate is $17.00 per hour and up based on experience. Work day begins at 9:00 am and traditional concludes at 6:00pm, with a 1 hour break. Ample opportunities for professional development are available.
