Job Summary
  • Seeking a highly experienced Software Engineer to support the development of a suite of mission-critical web applications that automate data management for Intelligence Community (IC) data custodians
  • These enterprise applications streamline the capture of metadata, approvals, and governance required to securely move, reuse, and integrate data across the customer mission space
  • The successful candidate will leverage software engineering, analytics, and data engineering expertise to develop scalable applications that support data characterization, enrichment, and integration while collaborating directly with customer stakeholders to deliver mission-focused capabilities
  • This position offers the opportunity to lead technical efforts, recommend emerging technologies, and support advanced analytics initiatives utilizing structured and unstructured data within an Agile development environment

Primary Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise web applications supporting data management, governance, and mission workflows
  • Analyze user and system requirements to develop scalable software solutions supporting enterprise data management and analytics
  • Develop strategies to extract meaning and value from structured and unstructured datasets
  • Design and implement software that supports data characterization, ingestion, enrichment, and integration across multiple mission systems
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries, database interactions, and data retrieval processes supporting enterprise applications
  • Analyze metadata, data schemas, and ontologies to improve automated data characterization and data quality
  • Collaborate directly with customer stakeholders to understand mission requirements and translate operational needs into technical solutions
  • Recommend emerging technologies, software architectures, and development processes that improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Serve as a technical lead supporting multiple software development efforts while mentoring junior engineers
  • Coordinate software development activities with systems engineering and customer representatives.
  • Ensure quality control of developed software through code reviews, testing, and adherence to software engineering best practices
  • Develop and execute unit, integration, and system testing activities to validate application functionality and reliability
  • Develop technical documentation, software designs, interface specifications, and operational procedures.
  • Support data visualization and analytics initiatives utilizing tools such as DataXplorer, GMAE, or comparable technologies
  • Participate in Agile software development activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, demonstrations, and retrospectives

Required Qualifications
  • Must have active Top Secret/SCI clearance with NSA Full Scope Polygraph
  • Minimum of twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs of similar scope, type, and complexity
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university
    • Four (4) additional years of directly related Software Engineering experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement
  • Minimum of six (6) years of recent software development experience
  • Strong knowledge of structured data formats, including XML, CSV, and JSON
  • Experience with database design, development, data enrichment, data conversion, metadata management, and data schemas/ontologies
  • Experience developing enterprise software using Java
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills

Desired Qualifications
  • Experience developing analytic applications using Python, Scala, or similar scripting languages
  • Experience utilizing statistical libraries, predictive analytics, machine learning, or data mining techniques
  • Experience with big data processing frameworks, including Apache Spark, Pig, and Hadoop MapReduce
  • Experience supporting Apache NiFi data flows and data ingestion pipelines
  • Experience developing software supporting large-scale data processing and analytics platforms
  • Experience processing and analyzing network metadata in support of intelligence analysis
  • Experience working with cloud service providers and enterprise data stewardship initiatives
  • Experience collaborating with software development teams, systems engineering teams, government stakeholders, and executive leadership
  • Experience with Java, SQL, database development, PostgreSQL, and complex query development
  • Experience utilizing Elasticsearch, including aggregation queries and analytics
  • Familiarity with data indexing, metadata management, and enterprise analytics architectures

Exempt hourly position. 11 paid holidays, minimum of 3 weeks PTO, company sponsored group medical plan, company paid dental, vision, life insurance, and STD/LTD plans. Salary is dependent upon the candidate's experience and qualifications.
The pay range for this role is:
