Job description

WithersRavenel is recruiting a Project Engineer (PE) to join the expanding and innovative Residential Development Practice Area! Project Engineers are licensed technical professionals that carry accountability for technical accuracy, client coordination, and partial project management responsibilities. These teammates demonstrate readiness to take ownership of project outcomes and lead portions of client delivery, while working independently. Project Engineers are expected to apply their professional judgment, mentor staff, and actively support both technical and client-focused aspects of project execution. In addition, PEs lead and support other teammates as they collaborate to create project deliverables.
This is a hybrid role working out of our Charlotte, NC, office where employees and supervisors collaborate to establish an in- and out-of-office schedule that "works" for all involved.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all internal aspects and tasks projects including review of data, analyzing information and determining compliance with standards and design concepts.
  • Lead the creation of preliminary and completed layouts, design concepts, and detailed design drawings, ensuring they meet our company and industry standards and codes.
  • Utilize, teach and delegate the use of applications to generate drawings, reports, or other technically based delivered per specific project requirements.
  • Stamp/seal work performed, and work performed by those on your team.
  • Initiate and conduct quality control processes, propose QC improvements, and mentor teammates on technical aspects and policies.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of professional experience, including client-facing work.
  • Advanced proficiency in relevant design software (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Strong ability to manage scope, budget, and schedule for assigned tasks/projects.
  • Excellent leadership, mentoring, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to balance technical and client demands independently.

Working Conditions
The assignment may require infrequent evening/weekend work and job site visits outdoors. Candidates should enjoy working in collaborative, fast-paced, and client-driven environment.
Physical Requirements
The assignment may occasionally require repetitive physical tasks (such as operating a computer), standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, extended time travelling in a vehicle, and carrying equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
