Internship Term: Winter/Spring 2027 (January - April)Commitment: Full-timeLocation: Onsite in Somerville, MA

The job:
  • Develop and test materials settings for peak performance (speed, surface quality, supports, etc)
  • Evaluate current material setting performance to identify areas for improvement
  • Design and execute experiments, using results to inform and develop improvements in software or hardware
  • Learn and operate high accuracy measurement equipment to validate your projects
You:
  • Well-organized, good time management, and excellent attention to detail
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Communicate test results effectively and in a timely manner
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience with experimental design
  • Experience working with protocols/SOPs
  • Enthusiastic and interested in 3D printing
Bonus Skills:
  • Basic understanding programming and scientific computing, ideally Python and/or Matlab
  • Familiar with mechanical design and CAD modeling (Solidworks/OpenScad/Onshape a plus)

Compensation

Interns at Formlabs are paid on a bi‑weekly pay schedule. The pay range for this role will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, location and expected impact on the organization. This is a salaried role, so you will always be paid based on the assumed 40 hours per week as a full‑time intern. This position does not offer housing or relocation assistance.

The weekly pay range for this role is:

$1,425—$1,750 USD
