CoverMyMeds is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and evolve cloud-native software platforms that improve healthcare accessibility and patient outcomes. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in complex technical environments, enjoys solving challenging problems, and can influence technical direction across teams.
As a senior member of the engineering organization, you will contribute to architecture, implementation, and delivery of distributed systems while mentoring other engineers and promoting engineering best practices. You will work closely with product, design, and engineering partners to deliver scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions.
We are looking for engineers with strong technical foundations, experience building modern applications at scale, and practical experience leveraging contemporary development tools, including AI-assisted coding workflows, to improve productivity and software quality.
What You'll Do
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable software solutions across frontend and backend systems.
  • Lead the implementation of complex features and services within distributed, cloud-based architectures.
  • Translate product and business requirements into thoughtful technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing, observability, security, and maintainability.
  • Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to fellow engineers.
  • Identify technical risks early and help teams develop effective mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and help establish patterns that enable long-term platform scalability.
  • Champion continuous improvement through refinement of development processes, tooling, and team practices.
  • Mentor engineers through technical leadership, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
  • Evaluate and adopt emerging development tools and practices that improve engineering efficiency and product quality.

Priority will be given to candidates who reside in the Columbus, OH Metropolitan area.

What You'll Bring
Minimum Qualifications
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Critical Skills
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience building and maintaining production-grade applications in a collaborative team environment.
  • 5+ years of experience with modern frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks.
  • 5+ years of experience developing backend services using C# and .NET technologies.
  • Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.
  • Experience implementing automated testing strategies and working with modern testing frameworks.
  • Strong software design, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence technical direction and collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with asynchronous processing technologies such as Kafka, Redis, or similar messaging and event-streaming platforms.
  • Experience building highly available, scalable SaaS applications.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience using GitHub, GitHub Actions, and related development tooling.
  • Practical experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools to enhance productivity and accelerate development workflows.
  • Experience defining requirements, acceptance criteria, and technical specifications that improve delivery quality and team alignment.
  • Experience participating in architecture reviews, design reviews, and cross-functional planning initiatives.
  • Experience working within Agile product development teams.
