What is the opportunity?

The RBC Team is hiring for a Development role with mixed QE responsibilities within Risk IT Team. In this role, you provide support for a suite of business mission-critical and complex applications, understanding both front and back-end of the applications under the guidance of the Dev and QE Managers. The technology platform spans the breadth of Windows and Linux platforms, Python / Java, Hive, and MS SQL

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Lead Timely delivery of releases, improvements and transformation initiatives in development and QE activities

  • Technical Analysis, Design & Documentation: Design and architect solutions for credit risk reporting applications. Develop database structures, review specifications, and ensure alignment with project requirements

  • Coding and Testing: Develop micro-services and data processing jobs. Conduct thorough code reviews, contribute to unit test plans, and collaborate with QA teams to ensure quality standards

  • Develop and maintain automated test suites and test automation tools

  • Create test plans, test cases and test scripts based on complex requirement documents and business User Stories

  • Work with JIRA, Confluence, qTest for test case management, defect management, test reporting and other functions

  • Effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders and business partners from initiation to close by using strong communication, rapport building and other stakeholder management techniques

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must-have

  • 5+ years of total experience in a QE/Dev or equivalent technical role + 2 years of Lead experience

  • Proficiency in Java/J2EE Microservice Architecture and building RESTful Web services.

  • Experience working in Hadoop/CDP Big Data environments, with strong hands-on experience in Spark/Hive for real-time and batch processing application development

  • Strong skills in database application development, ETL work, and advanced database performance tuning using technologies like Hibernate/Spring, with expertise in Hive/MySQL/SQL Server/Sybase/Oracle or similar databases.

  • Good knowledge of QE Processes, Testing Life Cycle, SDLC and Defect Management processes for application testing, development and support

  • Ability to use AI to integrate within testing and development processes and improve efficiencies

  • Excellent communication skills and effective negotiation skills.

  • Computer Engineering, Computer Science, degree/diploma, Finance & Technology background or equivalent experience

Nice-to-have

  • Proficient in Test-Driven Development (TDD) and unit testing (JUnit/testing), as well as Unix/Linux, shell scripting, and application configuration and deployment processes.

  • Experience in a variety of test automation frameworks/tools e.g., (Robot Framework and others ) and script development using scripting languages (e.g.Python, Bash, shell scripting, etc.)

  • PySpark and Spark SQL
