The Opportunity
Join Adobe's Developer Experience team in San Jose as a Software Development Engineer! This opportunity allows you to work with world-class technology and collaborate with ambitious professionals to successfully implement innovative solutions. What you'll Do
  • Develop and operate highly available API and AI gateway infrastructure on Kubernetes.
  • Develop services, controllers, automation, and self-service tools using Go or Python.
  • Use AI-assisted development throughout building, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Build AI-powered capabilities for log analysis, issue diagnosis, configuration validation, and automated remediation.
  • Manage API routing, load balancing, rate limiting, DNS, TLS, service-to-service connectivity, and gateway security.
  • Develop GitOps deployment workflows using Kubernetes, Helm, Argo CD, and custom resources.
  • Improve platform reliability through observability, automation, managing system resources, and resilient multi-region development.
  • Enable secure infrastructure for AI agents and MCP servers, including routing, authentication, authorization, guardrails, and usage controls.

What you need to succeed
  • Strong infrastructure and software engineering experience.
  • Skilled in Go or Python and experienced in creating production-ready tools or services.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, cloud networking, distributed systems, and API gateways.
  • Experience with Envoy, Contour, NGINX, or similar proxy and ingress technologies.
  • Knowledge of HTTP, DNS, TLS, OAuth, JWT, API security, load balancing, and rate limiting.
  • Experience working with Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, and infrastructure automation.
  • Ability to use AI coding tools effectively while maintaining strong engineering, testing, security, and production-quality standards.
  • A demonstrated ability to convert recurring operational work into scalable automation or AI-powered solutions.
  • Preferred qualifications: Experience building AI agents, MCP integrations, RAG solutions, or AI-assisted infrastructure tools.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, cloud, site reliability, or software engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes, distributed systems, cloud networking, and API gateway infrastructure.
  • Strong development experience in Go or Python, including building production services, controllers, automation, or internal tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI across developing, coding, testing, fixing, and infrastructure automation.
  • Experience with Envoy, Contour, HTTPProxy, Helm, Argo CD, GitOps, DNS, TLS, API security, and observability.
  • Experience with AI agents, MCP integrations, AI gateways, RAG, or AI-assisted infrastructure tooling.

Expected Pay Range:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $114,100 -- $214,950 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for the job location during the hiring process.
In California, the pay range for this position is $148,500 - $214,950
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
