Responsibilities

Join our Strategic Innovation Center in Blacksburg, VA and support exciting projects across Peraton in areas such as communications, space, cybersecurity, defense, health, and mobile.  You'll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative, supportive environment that allows you to grow your skills and your career while building experience in a variety of different projects and domains. You'll work in an Agile software development environment supporting requirements/story development, software architecture and design, software development, and unit/component testing. 

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience working as a full-stack software engineer
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience developing with Java and Python, along with a demonstrated ability to pick up new programming languages and technologies quickly
  • Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as Claude Code, GitHub CoPilot, and/or Codex
  • Experience with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and JavaScript frameworks (React and/or Angular)
  • Experience developing web services and web applications
  • Experience working with SQL databases (Postgres, MySQL, and/or MSSQL)
  • Experience with containerization using Docker
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated, independent, detail oriented, responsible team-player
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with a broad range of programming languages, such as C++, C#, and Golang
  • Experience working with AI technologies such as LLMs, RAG, and TensorFlow
  • Prior experience working with DevSecOps processes and tools
  • Experience with AWS technologies such EC2, S3, Lambda, and VPC
  • Experience with deploying software into cloud environments, particularly AWS, using technologies such as Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Experience with mobile development using Android Studio, Flutter, Kotlin, and/or Swift
  • Prior experience providing technical leadership to a team or mentoring to junior personnel
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take decisive action and an ability to find innovative ways to solve problems

Target Salary Range$80,000 - $128,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations.
