JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Undergrad R&D Engineering Intern
The Advanced Manufacturing and Materials Engineering Division of Applied Research Lab (ARL) is looking for several highly motivated undergraduate students to assist with various activities in the Materials Science Division.
ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply. This position would be for a Research and Development Engineer Intern.
Typical duties for a broad range of programs involving gear train technology, additive manufacturing, powder processing, cold spray manufacturing, robotics, testing, modeling and simulation, and characterization include assisting with:
  • Material synthesis
  • Device fabrication
  • Process simulation for fabrication
  • Development of advanced materials and material systems

Students Majoring in the following are encouraged to apply:
  • Engineering, Welding and Metal Fabrication Technology programs
  • Materials Science and Engineering (MATSE)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering Science
  • Aerospace engineering
  • Nuclear Engineering

The successful candidates will work up to 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and 40 hours/week over the summer. This is a paid internship located at ARL's Innovation Park location; relocation and housing are not provided.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
All positions at ARL require candidates to possess the ability to obtain a government security clearance; you will be notified during the interview process if this position is subject to a government background investigation. You must be a U.S. citizen to apply. Employment with the ARL will require successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.
