Job description

Build the future of intelligent search

Why build just another backend service when you can shape the search technology powering an entire product ecosystem? As a Senior Software Developer on our Search team, you'll help evolve Coveo's search capabilities, delivering intelligent, scalable search experiences to thousands of organizations around the world.

You'll tackle high-impact technical challenges at the intersection of distributed systems, search technology, platform engineering, and artificial intelligence (AI). Whether your expertise is in C++ or Java, you'll help build the next generation of search experiences that power Coveo's products.

As one of our Senior Software Developers, Search, you will:

  • Design, develop, and optimize scalable search capabilities using Java or similar C-style languages.
  • Build and evolve platform services, application programming interfaces (APIs), and extensibility mechanisms that enable search capabilities across multiple Coveo products.
  • Contribute to the integration, evolution, and optimization of large-scale search technologies that support our growing product ecosystem.
  • Improve interoperability between Coveo's platform and complementary search technologies or external systems.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Architects, Data Scientists, and Software Developers to deliver impactful search solutions.
  • Analyze existing services and contribute to the architecture of new platform capabilities that improve scalability, reliability, and performance.

Here is what will qualify you for the role:

  • 5+yrs of professional software development experience using Java or similar C-family languages.
  • Experience designing and delivering scalable, reusable, high-quality software within a complex platform or product environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate multiple technologies and system boundaries.
  • A collaborative mindset, strong ownership, curiosity, and a continuous desire to learn and improve.

What would make you stand out:

  • Experience working with large-scale search technologies such as Elasticsearch, OpenSearch, Vespa, or similar platforms.
  • Experience building backend services, application programming interfaces (APIs), developer platforms, or product integrations.
  • Experience with distributed systems and large-scale cloud-native applications.
  • Knowledge of information retrieval, indexing, query execution, vector search, or artificial intelligence (AI)-powered search technologies.
