Job description

Join the team bringing advanced autonomy to the built world

At Bedrock, weโ€™re moving AI out of the lab and into the real world. Our team is composed of industry veterans who helped launch Waymo, scaled Segment to a $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue. Today, weโ€™re deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery across the country, accelerating project schedules of billion-dollar infrastructure projects and improving safety on job sites. Backed by $350M in funding, weโ€™re working quickly to close the gap between Americaโ€™s surging demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing hubs, and the construction industryโ€™s growing labor shortage.

This is where algorithms meet steelโ€‘toed boots. Youโ€™ll collaborate with construction veterans and worldโ€‘class engineers to solve physicalโ€‘world problems that simulations canโ€™t touch. If youโ€™re ready to apply cuttingโ€‘edge technology to solve meaningful problems alongside a talented teamโ€”weโ€™d love to have you join us.

The Role

Weโ€™re looking for a Developer Platform Engineer to own and evolve the systems that keep our engineering organization moving fast and safely. Youโ€™ll be embedded in the developer experience layerโ€”focused on our monorepo, GitHub automation, and CI/CD infrastructureโ€”with a mandate to make builds faster, more reliable, and more selfโ€‘service across teams.

This is a highโ€‘leverage role. The problems you solve here multiply across every engineer in the company.

What youโ€™ll do
  • Build and operate the engineering platform that enables developers to build, test, and ship software efficiently and safely.
  • Design and maintain scalable CI/CD systems, source control workflows, and developer productivity tooling.
  • Create selfโ€‘service platform capabilities that reduce operational burden on engineering teams and standardize common workflows.
  • Improve software delivery performance by increasing build reliability, reducing feedback cycles, and eliminating sources of engineering friction.
  • Develop automation, policy enforcement, and governance mechanisms that scale with organizational growth.
  • Partner with engineering teams to identify bottlenecks and deliver platform solutions that improve productivity across the company.
  • Drive initiatives that improve developer experience, engineering velocity, and software quality.
What weโ€™re looking for
  • 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated ownership of production systems
  • Strong experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, or similar)
  • Handsโ€‘on experience with monorepo tooling. Comfortable writing productionโ€‘grade tooling in Python, Go, or TypeScript
  • Experience with GitHubโ€™s API and webhooks at scale
  • A systems thinker who designs for the whole org, not just the immediate problem
  • Good instincts around developer experience โ€” youโ€™ve felt the pain of bad CI and want to fix it permanently
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bazel experience is a strong plus.
  • Merge queues and largeโ€‘scale source control automation averaging 500+ merges a week
  • CI/CD optimation, test infrastructure, and flaky test reduction
  • Hardwareโ€‘inโ€‘theโ€‘loop (HIL) testing and automation.
  • Strong opinions on developer productivity and CI/CD, backed by a history of delivering measurable improvements.

Our roles are often flexible. If you donโ€™t fit all the criteria, or are in another location (especially one where we have an office like SF or NY) please apply anyway! Weโ€™d love to consider you.
