The Software Engineering & Business Systems Intern will support Gulf Management's technology, process improvement, and business systems initiatives. This position provides hands-on experience working with software applications, business processes, data analysis, automation tools, and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate interested in software development, business analysis, technology innovation, and digital transformation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of business applications and internal systems.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of web-based tools, databases, and automated processes.
  • Participate in troubleshooting, debugging, and quality assurance activities.
  • Help document system functionality, processes, and technical requirements.
  • Learn and apply software development and technology best practices.
  • Assist in gathering and documenting business requirements from stakeholders.
  • Participate in process mapping and workflow analysis initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and process automation.
  • Develop user stories, requirements documentation, and process guides.
  • Support project planning and implementation activities.
  • Utilize AI-powered tools to assist with research, documentation, coding, prototyping, and workflow improvement.
  • Support initiatives involving automation, digital transformation, and emerging technologies.
  • Evaluate and validate AI-generated content and recommendations for accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Assist in developing and testing technology solutions that improve business operations.
  • Participate in meetings, project discussions, and team updates.
  • Work collaboratively with departments including Operations, Human Resources, Accounting, and Safety.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and a willingness to learn.
  • Perform other duties, special projects, and responsibilities as assigned to support departmental and organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
  • Basic understanding of software development concepts and business systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience through coursework, personal projects, or extracurricular activities involving software development, data analysis, automation, or business process improvement
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, or C#
  • Exposure to cloud-based technologies, databases, or workflow automation tools
