Job description

Mechanical Engineering Intern

Location: Los Angeles, CA 90065 (Onsite, fulltime, 3 months)
Start date: Immediately (August)
Compensation: $30-$34/hr (Depending on experience)


About the Role

As a Mechanical Engineering Intern within SprintRay’s Hardware R&D team, you will support engineers across research, development, and manufacturing activities. This is a hands-on role designed to provide exposure to real-world product development while contributing meaningfully to active engineering projects. You will work alongside experienced engineers to design, prototype, test, and document mechanical systems that support current and future SprintRay products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with mechanical design and prototyping activities using CAD and physical builds

  • Support experimental testing, data collection, and analysis

  • Help design and fabricate fixtures, jigs, and test setups

  • Document designs, test results, and processes through reports, photos, and presentations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, firmware, and manufacturing

  • Support continuous improvement and troubleshooting efforts

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

  • Strong CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)

  • Hands-on experience designing and building prototypes (portfolio, photos, or videos required)

  • Basic understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals

  • Exposure to simulation tools (FEA and/or CFD)

  • Comfortable working in a lab or prototype environment
